"If we are peaceful, if we are happy, we can smile and blossom like a flower.
And everyone in our family, our entire society will benefit from our peace."
Thich Nhat Hanh
Being Peace
These days, I've been outside walking a lot, looking, listening,
and feeling into our season of spring.
As I pass by all the bright blossoms and buds, it feels as if they are speaking to me.
Each flower is cheering me on saying, "don't give up", "you can do it", "keep going".
We can learn a lot of things from the flowers, the way the roots reach deep into the earth, the stalk stretching toward the sun, and the bloom taking its time to unfold.
Many yoga poses are practiced in a similar way as the glory and growth of the flower.
It's all about noticing with our senses, gently observing our mind, becoming aware of our emotions, and feeling into our body.
This month we will begin with the waning crescent moon energy for rest and recuperation, and May's beautiful flowers for stability and strength. As the weeks progress, we will notice the power of intention and restoration through the new moon's energy, and finally honoring all we have, all we are, and all we need as the full moon shines at the end of the month.
Our attention will be focused on the feet, lower legs, hips, and pelvis as the roots of the body in an effort to allow the breath to draw the hands, upper arms, spine, head, and heart space as limbs lengthening and growing toward the sky and sun.
